There are many National Parks which offer great walks and our famous
granite rock known as Bald Rock, which is a great climb. The The Sir
Henry Parkes Memorial School of Arts Museum is a short walk from the
motel and is a must to visit.
The Tenterfield Railway Station & Museum is also not far away
and is an outstanding asset to Tenterfield. The Centenary Museum &
Petre Cottage, Police Station and Court House are all not to be
missed. Why not stay an extra day?
There is also a fine selection of wineries nearby where you are able
to taste and buy at cellar door prices. Tenterfield is the birth place
of Peter Allen and the Tenterfield Saddler (immortalised in Peter's
song) retail shop is an excellent place to visit.
In autumn the streets are ablaze with colour from the leaves on the
trees that line almost every street, producing a spectacular display
and it's well worth a visit to Tenterfield in autumn.
Tenterfield is known as "The Birthplace of Our Nation" and is
situated on the New England Highway between Glen Innes and Stanthorpe,
3 hours drive from Brisbane and on the Bruxner Highway, west of
Casino, 2.5 hours from Byron Bay, 2 hours from Lismore.
